Going to these meetings helped Emily continue her alcohol-free lifestyle, they gave her the support she sought after, and they served as a persistent reminder of the negative outcomes that are associated with abusive and hazardous drinking. Compared with her life just a few short months ago, life was now worthwhile and full of potential that she could have never yearned for or made real while she was involved in excessive and unhealthy drinking behavior.
