A Bouncer At An Elite Nightspot Discovers Why Alcohol Overdose Symptoms And Signs Can Save A Person's Life

Just a few days ago, Ryan applied for a position as a bouncer at one of the local nightspots. He had studied judo, gatka, aikido, karate, and ninjitsu for nine years; he was a weight lifter; he took daily vitamins, minerals, and supplements; he was into health foods and healthy eating; and he seemed like a natural for such a job. When Ryan received the announcement that he had been selected for the job, he was tremendously satisfied. Due to the fact that this was an exclusive nightclub, nonetheless, he had to go through a two week training class.

On the very first day of class, the instructor began talking about individuals who drink in an abusive manner and what the bartenders, barmaids, and bouncers should do when this situation arises. When the trainer started discussing alcohol poisoning, Ryan was pleased to find out that all of the new workers were required to learn about an alcohol overdose and precisely what they should do when they observed a person who was exhibiting alcohol poisoning symptoms or exhibiting the signs of alcohol poisoning.

More specifically, all the new barmaids, bartenders, and bouncers learned that vomiting and nausea were almost without exception one of the first signs of alcohol poisoning and that unconsciousness was conceivably the most highly visible alcohol poisoning sign or symptom. The instructor also made it a point to underscore the fact that alcohol poisoning signs were signals from the brain and from the body that the drinker had consumed more alcohol than his or her body can process.

There were, however, quite a few other symptoms and signs of alcohol poisoning that all the new workers were trained to be familiar with. For example, the students in the class learned that drinkers with alcohol poisoning often have seizures, are difficult to awaken, exhibit poor reflex responses, and they exhibit confusion.

Moreover, the members of the class discovered that many individuals who suffer from alcohol poisoning also exhibit slow, shallow or irregular breathing; slurred speech; blue tinged or pale skin; and little response from painful stimuli, for instance from pinching.

To explain the impact that binge drinking has on alcohol poisoning, the instructor explained to the members in the class that a drinker who gets intoxicated just once per year is, by definition, engaging in abusive drinking. Such a person, however, is almost certainly not an alcohol dependent person, but is more likely than not engaging in binge drinking. As declared by the lecturer, engaging in binge drinking even one time, unfortunately, can result in an alcohol overdose that in extreme instances can be fatal.

The lecturer then told the members in the class that the best response for an alcohol overdose is the following: if it is suspected that an individual is suffering from an alcohol overdose, call 911 and ask for immediate medical assistance, even if the individual is underage. By following this course of action, the individual will get the prompt alcohol poisoning medical attention she or he needs.

After learning about alcohol poisoning and especially about the symptoms and signs of alcohol poisoning, it may be pointed out, Ryan felt that he had discovered some important information that might save a drinker's life in the distant future. As a matter of fact, Ryan learned that knowledge of the typical alcohol poisoning signs and symptoms and knowing how to appropriately and quickly react to such signs and symptoms (by promptly calling 911 and asking for urgent medical assistance) can help a person avoid a lethal case of alcohol poisoning.
